1. Practice keeping your mouth shut!
2. Avoid filling the pauses with words.
3. Restate what you THINK you heard!
4. Try to actualy 'catch' yourself listening.
5. Use reflective words, such as, "Uh huh," "Go on," 'Tell me more," "I see.' etc. to stimulate the discussion.
True 'listening' is about 'reflecting back' what the other person is saying ... not about what you're waiting to say.
